CGI STEM Computer Camp

CGI, an independent information technology service firm hosted a one-day STEM Camp at Reaching Up on Saturday November 10th which was such a major success.  The camp was focused on educating children about the opportunities in the science, technology, engineering, and math fields and how it can be fun as well.

It was an amazing day as the team of CGI volunteers showed up and led the children in computer programing activities using Raspberry PI equipment.  The children found out just how easy it was to make a program to play music, capture images from a camera to having an avatar make its way through a maze.

As part of the camp, CGI provided everything from snacks, lunch, and a range of gifts for the children which included; a T-shirt, notebook, pencil, USB wristband and a knapsack. The children were so excited; they did not want to go home at the end of the day.
Now that the children have had taste of what it is like to make some different programs, Reaching Up is planning on setting up a small computer club as part of the after school program to help the children develop their interest in the field.
To help with this project, we are looking for your financial support so we can procure the hardware.
